What Makes SERENGETI Special

Serengeti National Park is a World Heritage Site and one of the largest and most diverse ecosystems in the world. It covers an area of 14,763 km (5,700 sq mi) in northern Tanzania and contains over 1,500,000 hectares (3,700,000 acres) of virgin savanna. It was established in 19402 and is part of the larger Serengeti ecosystem that spans two countries: Tanzania and Kenya. The name “Serengeti” comes from the Maasai word “siringet” which means “the place where the land runs on forever”
